WIDAYAT: AN INDONESIAN MASTER PAINTER
Born in Kutoarjo, Central Java, 1919. He studied at the Indonesian Fine Art Academy (ASRI), Yogyakarta and Ceramics and Landscape, Nagoya, Japan (1960). He received BKPM award (1953), a cultural award from the Indonesian Government (1972), the Best Biennial Painting, Yogyakarta (1986) and the ASEAN Award, Brunei Darussalam (1993). His works have been shown throughout Indonesia and abroad. He performed his solo exhibitions in Yogyakarta (1983), Jakarta (1985, 1990, 1991, 1992, 2000 and participated in joint exhibition in Japan, Netherlands and United States for KIAS (1990 – 1991).
Born in Bandung, West Java 1929. He learned painting with Kok Tekkang at Tiong Hoa Hwee Koan. and then learned painting from Sudjana Kerton and Mochtar Apin. He graduated from China Institute of Fine Art in 1956 and then assigned to teach at Xian An Institute until 1959. He participated in a joint exhibition in Bandung and many other exhibitions since then. He was appointed as a Presidential Palace painter in 1961 and awarded the gold medal Golden Centaur from International Parliament, USA. His solo exhibition was held in 2003.
